We are currently seeking qualified applicants to work in our 8-week Summer Youth Club Program, which runs from June 24th to August 16th. Exclusive to Elm Park Pool family members, the Youth Club enables working parents to entrust the supervision of their kids aged 6 to 12 to our team of counselors during the day, so that they can attend their chosen swim lessons and programs, as well as enjoy their summer days with their friends in a fun, stimulating and safe environment. We maintain a 5 to 1 ratio of children to counselors.

  • The EPRA Senior Youth Club Leader’s key tasks and responsibilities include:

    • Provide overall leadership, training, and constructive feedback to Youth Club staff to ensure quality program delivery, teamwork, and a safe and inclusive job environment

    • Supervise all Youth Club participants, ensuring overall well-being, development, and safety of all children

    • Lead and implement daily Youth Club activities for children

    • Provide fun recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for Youth Club participants

    • Maintain schedules for Youth Club participants including leading them through their swimming lessons, swim program activities and all non-swimming recreational activities

    • Lead participants in high energy environments with games, friendly competitions, and other activities, while promoting intercultural exchanges, diversity, and inclusion

    • Maintain program records, including incident reports and daily attendance

    • Communicate incidents to affected parents, Pool Manager, Youth Club Manager as required

    • Record and track children’s dietary restrictions/allergies, and respects restrictions/allergies when meals/snacks are distributed

    • Ensure that counselors maintain constant surveillance of children when they are in pool and non-pool areas, identify any unsafe situations and call-to action to keep everyone secure

    • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Youth Club policies and practices, as well as pool policies and practices, including all protocols for safety and first-aid, and ensure that they are followed by all counselors

    • Administer First Aid to children as required

  • The EPRA Youth Club Counselor's key tasks and responsibilities include:

    • Responsible for the well-being and safety of Youth Club participants from drop-off until pick-up

    • Coordinate and help in the development of activities, developing new games and themes that will keep participants safe and engaged

    • Supervise, facilitate, and participate in Youth Club activities with participants of various ages

    • Work co-operatively with other Youth Club Counselors to ensure the participants are always safe, while maintaining good health and hygiene measures

    • Build relationships with all participants by showing compassion, empathy and understanding

    • Take a roll call at the beginning and end of every activity

    • Ensure Youth Club participants eat their lunch, are properly hydrated and wearing their sunscreen and hats

    • Always check that play areas are free from hazards before beginning the activity

    • Lead patrons in high energy environments with games, friendly competitions, and other endeavours, while promoting intercultural exchanges, diversity, and inclusion

    • Provide feedback to parents and guardians and any other information that is important for the well-being of the child and for the parent to know

    • Plan, lead and implement a minimum of two youth club activities daily in the afternoons

    • Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation and daily attendance

    • Be knowledgeable of and understand all emergency procedures associated to the Youth Club program

    • Resolve any participants’ disputes

    • Monitor participants to ensure compliance with rules and prevent accidents

    • Clean, maintain and ensure proper use of pool facilities and Youth Club equipment

    • Participate in staff meetings

We are looking for candidates who are

  • 16 years of age or older as of June 24th, 2024

  • Bilingual (French and English)

  • Outgoing, energetic, and team oriented

  • Ideally experienced in working at a children’s camp or in coaching children

  • Trained in First Aid

Hospitality

We are currently seeking qualified applicants to work in our 8-week Summer Hospitality Team, which runs from June 24th to August 16th.

  • The Hospitality Attendant’s key tasks and responsibilities include:

    • Provide a quality customer experience by greeting and engaging all patrons at the front entrance and canteen

    • Communicate and promote diversity and inclusion among all ages by welcoming all participants to upcoming social and athletic events

    • Engage “walk-in” prospective members including communicating the membership fees, swimming programs and activities

    • Provide canteen customers with food and drinks as requested, using the equipment provided

    • Ensure food is prepared as required, and handled with care

    • Maintain canteen inventory and identify canteen inventory needs as required.

    • Follow food safety practices, including cleanliness for all canteen surfaces and fridges, utensils, and cooking instruments

    • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the entrance and canteen site and surrounding area

    • Maintain membership records, including member photos, dietary restrictions/allergies

    • Enforce and follow EPRA policies, practices, swimming program information, and pool facility information; and communicate to patrons as required

    • Maintain incident reports and daily attendance as required

    • Communicate incidents to affected parents, Pool Manager, Youth Club Manager as required

    • Collect feedback from patrons with the goal of increasing customer satisfaction

    • Update and maintain community communication board and develop bilingual communication support materials for upcoming events

Lifeguard Team

We are currently seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Supervisor in our Lifeguard Team.

  • The Lifeguard Supervisor’s key tasks and responsibilities include:

    • Lead the supervision of the pool during recreational swim hours with a team of 2-4 lifeguards

    • Demonstrate leadership in delivering 3 assigned programs (ex: swim team, aquafit, adult lessons, etc.)

    • Provide ongoing leadership, training, and constructive feedback to non-supervisory staff to ensure quality program delivery, teamwork, and a safe and inclusive job environment

    • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of policies and practices, including all protocols for safety, first-aid and lifesaving

    • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the pool’s pump system, ensure staff adheres to maintenance protocols

    • Oversee the proper maintenance of the pool grounds and facilities. Ensure staff adheres to necessary cleaning protocols

    • Support delivery of weekly staff trainings

    • Support the delivery of written performance evaluations at the middle and end of the season, in collaboration with the supervisory staff

Qualifications and skills

  • Must be bilingual (French & English)

  • Must have National Lifesaving Society certification

  • Must have 2-3 years of Lifeguarding experience (preferably NAA or ALPS)

  • A background in one or more competitive water sports is a strong asset
